Actor in swine flu ad catches swine flu

The actor from a popular UK public service announcement about how to avoid swine flu ... has been diagnosed with swine flu.

In the advertisement (video below) from the U.K. Department of Health, actor David McCusker first sneezes the "wrong" way in an elevator, spraying mucus everywhere, then sneezes the "right" way -- into a tissue, which he promptly throws away and washes his hands.

The campaign's tagline: "Catch It, Bin It, Kill It."

Except now, according to the Daily Mail, McCusker has been diagnosed with swine flu.

"It was a shock when I found out," McCusker told the paper.

"I quarantined myself and I've been getting lots of [grief] from mates," he said. "I was supposed to 'Catch It, Bin It, Kill It' but instead I've been shivering, shaking and spreading it."

China’s design to Divide India

Well, an article appeared on Aug, 08, 2009, in many Chinese government websites, titled, “If China takes a little action, the so-called Great Indian Federation can be broken up”. This was supposed to be written by one Zhong Guo Zhan Lue Gang. The authoritative host site for this article is located in Beijing and is the new edition of one, which so far represented the China International Institute for Strategic Studies (www.chinaiiss.org).

Claiming that Beijing’s ‘China-Centric’ Asian strategy, provides for splitting India, the writer of the article, Zhan Lue (strategy), has found that New Delhi’s corresponding ‘India-Centric’ policy in Asia, is in reality a ‘Hindustan centric’ one. Stating that on the other hand ‘local centers’ exist in several of the country’s provinces (excepting for the U.P and certain Northern regions), Zhan Lue has felt that in the face of such local characteristics, the ‘so-called’ Indian nation cannot be considered as one having existed in history.

According to the article, if India today relies on any thing for unity, it is the Hindu religion. The partition of the country was based on religion. Stating that today nation states are the main current in the world, it has said that India could only be termed now as a ‘Hindu Religious state’. Adding that Hinduism is a decadent religion as it allows caste exploitation and is unhelpful to the country’s modernization, it described the Indian government as one in a dilemma with regard to eradication of the caste system as it realizes that the process to do away with castes may shake the foundation of the consciousness of the Indian nation.

The writer has argued that in view of the above, China in its own interest and the progress of whole Asia, should join forces with different nationalities like Assamese, Tamils, and Kashmiris and support the latter in establishing independent nation-states of their own, out of India. In particular, the ULFA in Assam, a territory neighboring China, can be helped by China so that Assam realizes its national independence.

This outrageous article goes on by saying that, it wishes to break India into 20-30 nations like in Europe and if the consciousness of nationalities in India could be aroused, social reforms in South Asia can be achieved, the caste system can be eradicated and the region can march along the road of prosperity. (Source: http://www.c3sindia.org/india/719)

Well, it can be seen that such an article cannot appear in government websites without the knowledge of the Chinese authorities. It is clear that China is provoking India. But, the Indian government has responded with care. The Congress spokesman said that this article doesn’t deserve any attention, and it seems that this article is the production of an insane mind.

China’s communist government behaves more like an imperialistic government, which want their hegemony in the world. They see India as a potential threat for their hegemony in Asia. That’s why they are always eager to suppress India’s ambitions in every international forum.

Well, India and China has a long history of boundary disputes. Both countries perceive each other whith suspicion. Indians cannot forget the war of 1962. China seems to see India as a threat to its supremacy in the Asia and its major competitor as an emerging economic superpower. It is trying by all means to curtail India’s progress. It has joined hands with Pakistan against India. It is directly or indirectly helping the militant outfits in the north east area of India. China is trying to bring into its fold, all the neighbouring countries of India. Well, it already had joined hands with Pakistan. It has links with the Maoists in Nepal. It has alliance with Myanmar. Well, Bangladesh is not any way friendly with India. It is joining hand with Srilanka and it is also trying to have relationship with Mali.

In view of all this events, India cannot certainly ignore the above said article. It should know the designs of the Chinese government and form our policies accordingly. The most concerning thing is that there is a considerable army movement around the border of Arunachal Pradesh. China has already constructed rail and road lines along these borders against all the odds and by spending huge amount of money. Well, it is certainly well planned. On the other side, is India prepared? We still doest not have good transportation facility along the north-east area. We are still, lethargic in the matter of defense preparedness. It seems that our politicians and authorities have learnt nothing from the debacle of 1962, Indo-China war.

It is apparent that there is a huge gap between the Indian and Chinese defense strength. Our Army officials have admitted this fact. And above all China has progressed in the fields of technology, Industry, science, medicine, economic growth and is far ahead of India. India, with its lethargic and corrupt political system still is very slow in the path of economic growth. It also doesn’t have any say in the global affairs. Its foreign diplomacy is very weak.

Actually, the article is in one way, a mirror shown to India, to look into itself. The points pointed out are true in one sense. One point is the caste system. The vast majority of Indians are Hindus and the Hindu religion is divided into many caste systems. It is like religion within religion. Each, caste has its own customs and traditions. Certain castes never interact with each other, and view each other with animosity. Even there is huge discrimination against the lower castes, the ‘Dalits’. These Dalits hold a vast majority of population. They are not allowed to have progress and are in the grip of upper caste, especially in the rural parts of India. There is also a tendency to form organization and political parties based on the caste system. Even the political parties use this caste system and religion for their political aims. They use the same policy once used by the British Empire, against India, the divide and rule policy. All these has certainly affected the growth of India, to a large extend. And then there is the regional bias. With regional political parties gaining more power at the center, this regional divide has increased. Each state perceives other state as if there are enemy nations. The recent incidents points to these factor, such as the protest against the Biharis, in Mumbai, protest in Bangalore, against the inauguration of the statue of Tiruvalluvar, the Tamil poet, the Kaveri issue and the list goes on, and is increasing day by day. Well, it does reminds us, of the history, when the rivalry between the then small states and provinces in India, led to the capture of India by the British Empire. The Chinese article, in certain way is pointing towards our weakness, which if not corrected as soon as possible will lead to a major threat to the integrity of India. There is an urgent need to address these problems of caste system, regional tensions, communalism etc.

Another thing we should look is the defense preparedness. The, Indian government still, does not heed to the needs of the defense sector. There is an unlimited delay to the procurement of defense equipments. There is always a scam looming around every defense deal. The corruption in this sector is very high, and which is also very dangerous to our defense. Often the deals results in procurement of equipments unsuitable for the armed forces. A recent example is the revelation of army officials, that missiles brought from Russia, during Kargil war, were below standards, and many of them even didn’t explode during the test done by the army. Then, there is Gorshkov deal. We are going to buy, an old used aircraft carrier, which the Russians want to abandon. According to the CAG report, the delay in the supply of aircraft carrier, has coasted India more than what it would take to buy a new aircraft carrier. Certainly, there is something fishy in the deal.

So, such is the state of defense in India. The preparedness of the army for a war is yet to be tested. India’s pacifistic approach is a failure in, it should have abandoned after the Indo China war. We should, also take into notice that we have yet, only won war against Pakistan. One should consider the fact that Indian army and Pakistan army have the same roots. If we see, the performance of Indian army, after the Indo-China war, the weakness can be seen in the Sri Lankan operations, when dealing with the LTTE. There is also, a concern over the decline in discipline of the armed forces, as there is an increasing interference of politicians in the affairs of armed forces, like for the purpose of transfer, promotion etc. The, retired army officers are also indulging in the arms deals. This is also exposed in the Tehlka scandal. Corruption in the defense sector should be eradicated as soon as possible. Army should be strong, disciplined and should have up-to-date equipments. We should not forget the debacle of the Indo-China war. The ‘Himalayan blunder’ committed during the war should be great lesson, to remember. The Nehru’s lack of foresight has caused the war and the defeat of the India Army. This shows a shear negligence on the part of government can lead to the death of lots of people including the army. Many, defense personalities of those times still believe that we would have won the 1962 war, if Nehru had listened to the defense experts. Nehru neglected the army, and confronted the Chinese without seeing our defense preparedness. His pacifistic approach, led to the death of millions of army men, and a humiliating defeat. This shows that however peace loving we are, we still should not neglect the defense. The strongest person can only talk of peace. To know more about the Indo-China war, visit the wikipedia. Also visit these sites: Paper written by James Barnard Calvin, Lieutenant Commander, US Navy, on Indo-China war, and cause of India’s defeat--http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/library/report/1984/CJB.htm

Also, see the article written by Wing Commander (retd) R V Parasnis, who participated in the Indo-China war. http://www.rediff.com/news/2002/dec/18chin.htm
If we go by these articles, and read the history, then we would come to the conclusion that Nehru also had a very great role in the humiliating defeat of the India. Therefore, he should have resigned.

It would make us chill, if we know the condition of the army men in the war. Many of them were wearing, summer uniforms, at altitude as above as 15,000 feet! Most of them had .303, bolt action rifles that are useless at chilling condition at such ultra altitude. And above all, the Chief commander, BM Kaul had no experience leading a war, he was in ASC (Army Service Core- which is responsible for logistics supply). He had no idea how to lead the war. The reason he was in such a position -- nepotism by Nehru (He was the relative of Nehru). China won the war only because of its war strategy and its huge strength, which Indian Army lacked. It had a weak Chief of staff and a weak political head.

The war also showed the weakness of India to the world. Our reputation in the world declined. Nehru’s dream of making India an Asian leader also got a big jolt.

After this long years we still are following the paths of Nehru, which is laziness in every matter. At present Chinese officials see their nation on the rise and feel no need to compromise with India. That’s why the Indo-China border dispute is left unresolved. The number of incursions by China's troops into Indian-controlled territory appears to be increasing. It always had a soft approach towards China, but the later played a hard game. Chinese have always supported Islamabad's campaign of terror against the Indian. The terrorists attacking Mumbai hotels last November used Chinese equipment--the distinctively blue Type 86 grenades, manufactured by China's state-owned Norinco, which has continually supplied parties working with militants inside India. China has given Pakistan most of the ordinance that its notorious Directorate for Inter-Services Intelligence--better known as ISI--gives to terrorist groups. Almost all of the sophisticated communications equipment used by terrorists in India, especially Kashmir, is Chinese-made and was routed through the Pakistani army. The training the Chinese give to Pakistani personnel is, with Beijing's knowledge, leached to terrorists. Furthermore, in April and May 2006, May 2007 and August 2008, China blocked U.N. sanctions against and censure of Lashkar-e-Taiba and its front, Jammat-ud-Dawa, the organizations responsible for the horrible hotel attacks.

In May, Fali Homi Major, then India's air force chief, said China posed more of a threat than Pakistan to his country. He was widely criticized in New Delhi and forced to retract his remarks. Why was he silenced, when he had spoken the truth. Doesn’t the Indians have the right to know the truth or we should be in a illusion that our army can take any attacker, and be surprised by Chinese like the 1962 war? We are still doing the same mistake the Nehru had did.

I think, Indian politicians, are unaware of the developments in the world. They are more concerned of the political activity within the nation. We can never expect any thing new from the Congress, as they follow the path of Nehru. Well, I think all political parties are same, in this matter. BJP, in spite of its pro-active approach on defense matters, its performance in the center was not much of a think to be happy, when it was in power. There was the most embarrassing incidents in its tenure- the Kargil war, the Khandahar episode of airplane hijacking, parliament attack. The Kargil war, although India won, on the cost of many army jawans life, it clearly showed how India was guarding its borders.

So, coming back to the article, I think, this article, published in the Chinese website is a kind of eye opener for India. Indian government and the citizens of India, should take these things very seriously. We should build a strong nation in every respect and therefore there is an urgent need to address these issues. After these 62 years, we are still lagging in social reformation. I think there should be a movement to eradicate caste system, which is a main hindrance in the development of this country. If we see, the developed states, they generally have a more uniform society. We can be proud of our diversity, but it should not come in the path of our economic and social development.

LAKSHMI MENON - FAMOUS INDIAN MODEL

LAXMI-MENON
LAXMI-MENON

Lakshmi menon is an Indian fashion model. She was born on November 4,1981 in Bangalore. Her parents are from Kerala, and father a military person. She took up modelling to earn money while studying for a degree in sociology at the Bangalore University. She did modelling in India for several years. She began her international career in 2006. A show for Jean Paul Gaultier was followed by work on the Hermès catwalk, the Hermès advertising campaign, and campaigns for Max Mara and for Givenchy.

She had natural dark complexion, which is not welcomed in Indian modeling scene. Much to her surprise, she was approached in 1998 by model agent Anila Anand and invited to Paris. But, she opted for Bangalore University, because she didn't want to go against the wishes of her parents.

After graduating, Lakshmi Menon felt the lure of modeling or, more specifically, the money. After resuming contact with Anila Anand, Menon entered the professional circuit and modeled a series of 2007 Swatch ads that accentuated her inviting eyes, glowing skin and their fine jewelry. In the fall, she joined Gemma Ward and four Bollywood actresses on the cover of the first-ever Indian edition of Vogue. A runway appearance for Hermes led to her becoming its face in 2008.

After that there was no looking back for Lakshmi Menon as her carrier hit new hights. Color never become a issue for her. A contract with Ford Models in 2008 was turning point and it brought her new magazine covers -like -- for L'Officiel (India) in March and a bikini-clad cover for Vogue (India) in April. It also made her the first Indian model to earn a solo cover for the magazine.

After that she did shows for Stella McCartney, Issey Miyake and Jean Paul Gaultier. While these were positive developments, Menon had been invisible to much of the industry until this point, except to Givenchy's Ricardo Tisci who hand-picked her to open his fall couture show in Paris That’s when her dark look became "in." Givenchy photos followed with Lara Stone and Kirsten Owen, and she would later close the Ohne Titel spring show during New York Fashion Week (her debut appearance!) and walk the runway for Ralph Lauren, Vera Wang and Michael Kors.

LAXMI-MENON

Lakshmi was featured in French Vogue editorial for the first time in Oct, 2008, after her Milan show for La Perla, in which she walked for D&G and Givenchy. She was also the “This year’s Model” crown awarded by Vogue for 2008. She was also in the Top 10 Newcomers by Style.com. She was also in the cover of Elle, the same year.
She has proved that dark skin doesn’t prevent one from gaining new heights in modeling. She continued her success, with a contract with Givenchy and appeared on the covers of Dazed and Confused(UK) and was in the Vogue French calendar.
Lucie Greene of the Daily Mail has predicted that she would attain Supermodel status. Indian photographer Prabuddha Dasgupta says of Menon that “She’s dusky, flawless and the true face of beauty. She’s worked with Jean Paul Gaultier, Hermes, Chanel -- and is the face of the future.” Vogue said in 2008 that she was "quite the embodiment of Givenchy's new-season style". She was in the 2008’s top ten by New York Magazine.

She appeared the New York Fashion Week and Ohne Titel show. She also walked for Diane von Furstenberg, Michael Kors, Ralph Lauren, and Vera Wang.
She is down to earth and doesn’t throw tantrums as other models do. She says,” The reason I got noticed was my groundedness and my ability to see it just as work and not get carried away by the glitz and the glamour of it all. A lot of people did comment that I was unlike any model that they had met... I didn't dress like one, talk like one or party like one. I have a life and modelling happens to be the work that I do."
But how do you define success? "Success is always a combination of talent, hard work and good fortune. I would like to believe that I am blessed with a fair portion of all three! I did not style or groom myself any differently for the global market."

The turning point in her life was when she was signed as the face of Hermes. "That's when I started getting noticed by Western designers and magazines. Again, I was lucky there because they were doing an Indiainspired collection and I fit right in."

Being dusky-skinned does get her clichéd comments, she says, especially in India. "The idea of dark skin has always had a stigma attached to it, despite the current political correctness about it. I don't think my success in the international arena is about to change that. I'll believe it when I see a mainstream beauty campaign using a dark skinned girl... that'll be a change! Now, with Barrack Obama as president, maybe there is hope."

My favourite actors: Mohanlal-the malayalm film actor

MOHANLAL
One of my favourite actors is Mohanlal. Well, what could you say about him. He is a legend. He is my all time favourite. He is one of Malayalam film industry’s diamond. What attracts me more is his simplicity in acting. There are no overacting or over gestures. He has his own style of acting—the style of delivery of dialogue, the body language, all of which makes him my favourite actor. The style of his walking and running is very famous among malayalees. Mohanlal can do very complicated scene, with very much ease, without over doing it.

MOHANLAL
Mohanlal the star

Mohanlal talk about himself in ManoramaNews

Mohanlal about love

I am fan of many of his films. I especially like his comedy films, especially of the 80’s and early 90’s. Well he is a genius in doing comic roles. He has different style of doing this. While most Indian actors at that time take extra effort and over acting to do such comic scenes, Mohanlal do it with his own style, with ease. His body language, and actions and the style of delivery of dialogue, will make us giggle and laugh. The comic roles which I liked the most are from ‘T.P. Balagopalan M.A’, ‘Chitram’, ‘Kilukkam’,’Poochakkuru mukkuthi’, ‘Aram plus Aram kinnaram’, ‘Vandanam’, ‘Nadodikattu’, ‘Pattana pravesham’ –the list is endless. Well, he has teamed with many notable Malayalam film directors. The most interesting teams are Mohanlal- Sathyan Anthikkad, with Priyadarshan. With Priyadarshan he has made many comedy films, which were huge success. I think no actor in India can do such comedy like he has done. He has his own unique style.

MOHANLAL

His action oriented films are also very interesting. He may not be as good as Mammotty in dialogue delivery, but his rendition of the scenes are brilliant. His rowdy roles are very successful, like – Aranthamburan, Narasimham, Sfadigam etc. Among the films in which he has done serious roles; my favourite one is Kireedam. The film itself is classic in its own. His rendition as Sethumadhavan, a man who gets into trouble when he has to face a notorious rowdy, was excellent. Here, he had to portray all the mental tension the character undergoes when his future and his ambitions crumble before him. Well, you can say, this film is a feather in his crown. Well he got Special Jury Award for this role, in National film awards.

Aramthampuran

My other favourite films are: T.P. Balagopalan M.A., Thalavattam, Nadodikkattu, Chithram, and the list continues. One cannot forget the role in T.P. Balagopalan. An innocent youth who struggles to maintain his job, his ambitions and his love. There are many comic situations in this film. The sentimental scenes are also done well. Well, in Thalavattam he plays a patient in mental asylum. Well actually this film is inspired by Hollywood movie - One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. It is a tragic film with many comic situations.

Well he started his film carrier as a villain in Manjil Virinja Pookkal. He gradually grew into the status of a star. He has done many genre of films, from comedy to tragedy, from action to family oriented films. He has shown his talent in all type of characters. He had the chance to work with many great directors like Padmarajan, Bharathan, Maniratnam, Aravindan, Shaji N karun. He earned many awards, for his works.

MOHANLAL
But I am mainly fan of his early films, films in 80s and 90s. I am losing interest in his latest films. One of the things he should look after is his body. He has become too fat to fit into some roles. His obesity is a major distraction in many roles. He just don’t seem to fit into the character. I think the actor’s physical nature also has a part in his acting carrier. I think he is not taking much care of this thing. Well if he becomes a little more slim, he will do justice to his characters. I hope he will do it in near future.

And one more thing, he should stop taking larger than life characters. He should pick roles which has more acting challenges than, that involves melodramatic speeches and long dialogues with lot of English words stuffed into it. And I also think he should return to comic roles.

Anyway, one cannot deny the fact that he is a brilliant actor in the Indian film industry and one of the greatest actors of the world.

A Clockwork Orange

Malcolm McDowell as Alex

Well ‘A Clockwork Orange’ is a science fiction film directed by Stanley Kubrick. It is adapted from the novel of the same name written by Anthony Burgess. Recently, I happened to see this film. It’s a nice film. It’s about a character named Alex DeLarge played by Malcolm McDowell, who is a psychopathic, interested in violence, sex and classical music especially of Beethoven. It shows how a person indulging in such activity will suffer in the end.

Raping the writer’s wife

We see the movie as a narration of Alex on his life. He is the leader of four member group. They speak a particular language called ‘Nadsat’. They call themselves ‘droogs’. They indulge in all kind of activities like beating people, raping girls, robbing. And then one day Alex is caught by police, as his group members cheat on him, as he had a fight with them earlier. In the jail, he undergoes an experimental aversion therapy for rehabilitating criminals called ‘Ludovico technique’. In this experiment, Alex is placed in a straitjacket and forced to watch films containing scenes of extreme violence while being given drugs to induce reactions of revulsion. During this he develops an aversion to Beethoven music. Well, at the end of the experiment he develops aversion towards all kind of violence and sex. He is released after the treatment.

Well, after the release, he is unable to protect himself from the attacks of his earlier victims, as a consequence to his treatment. At one point he tries to commit suicide by jumping from a building. He survives with injury. Well, in the hospital he is cured of this condition. The internal affairs minister apologizes to him for the experiment, as Alex’s suicide attempt has caused a great deal of controversy against this experiment.

I liked the camera work. Acting of Malcolm McDowell, was very good. I liked his style of acting. He was successful in portraying this, psychopathic character. He also had the same kind of role in the film Caligula. The film had the typical touch of Kubrick.

The film have a lot of violence and nudity. This is criticized by many critics. It has scenes like brutally beating people. A brutal rape. I liked the background music—it created a alienating mood.

One of the scenes, I liked was the scene where, Alex beats his gang member with walking stick near the canal. Well this stunt is done in slow motion in a stylized manner. Alex’s mannerism was very good. I like psychopathic characters.

Well indeed it is one of Kubrick’s best film.

Nepotism in Hindi Film Industry

Today star sons and their sons are ruling the Hindi Film Industry. Every aged star is eager to bring their son or daughter to the industry. The bollywood has now become full of star sons and daughters. There is hardly any space for outsider. Even producers and directors are bringing their sons. Earlier, there were only one or two star sons. But now it has become a norm.

Abhishek & Amitabh Bachan-- the Big Bs

Sunny Deol, their father Dharmendra, Boby Deol, Esha Deol & Hema malini

Roshans

Ranbeer Kapoor and his daughters Karishma and Kareena Kapoor

Anil Kapoor and his daughter Sonam Kapoor

When a son of a star enters the industry, he has every thing ready for him. People know him because, he is the son of star. And for the same reason he gets free media attention. People wait eagerly for his film. He gets producers ready at his door step with lots of money and distributors ready to buy his film. His call sheet becomes full before his first film is even released. Even if his first film flops at the box-office, he still gets films. He gets film until he becomes a big star, like Amitabh Bachan’s son Abhishek Bachan. Abhishek’s all earlier films were big flops one after the other. Even his first film, the much hyped film was a flop, even though it was directed by the big director, JP Dutta. In spite his flop films he still got films until he become a star. If he was not the son of a star he would have never reached this position.

Imran Khan with his uncle Amir Khan

Well, bollywood is famous for being very clannish. There is a very long list of clans in Bollywood. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Bollywood_film_clans

Because of this nepotism, I think talented people would have a great difficulty in getting a chance in this industry. I think we want new faces, who doesn’t have the resemblance of earlier star, either in looks or in their acting style. Film industry has become a family business. I think nepotism is more prevalent in Bollywood than any other Indian film Industry. But this trend is slowly creeping into other industries also.

Like in Tamil film industry, it is producers and directors, who are bringing their siblings to this industry.

In Telugu, there are already a lot of actors who either are son of actors or their brothers, cousins or nephews.

In Malayalam this trend is less prevalent. One reason is that there is less space for others, because it is a small industry.

I think, Directors and producers should bring in more fresh talents, to this industry rather than choosing who already were there. Fresh talents should be given chance in every field of the cinema, than only we can get good quality films. It is this outsiders like, Ram gopal Varma, Manoj Vajpayee, Irfan Khan, Madhur Bhandarkar who had made a difference in the Hindi film world. Among them, I think Ram Gopal Varma had a big influence in Hindi cinema.

I hate nepotism. I think, now its time that bollywood industry should become more professional. In Hollywood, I think nepotism is looked with disdain. http://www.geocities.com/Hollywood/Theater/2404/nepotism.htm . For eg. Nicolas Cage is actually Nicolas Coppola, who is the nephew of director Francis Ford Coppola. To avoid been seen as nepotism he changed his surname.

But here nepotism is taken as a matter of pride. Most of the siblings of great stars even don’t know acting. They merely survive on the basis of the names of their parents. I wonder how they become stars. For eg. Abhishek Bachan, I don’t what is in him that makes him a star. He doesn’t have any looks. He has all the mannerism of Amitabh Bachan, his father. You cannot spot anything special in his acting. Well, I think, I should understand that in Bollywood there are no actors, only we have are showmen.

Nisha Kataria: an US settled Indian singer.

Nisha Kataria is in news as she had the chance to live in Neverland with the legendary late Michael Jackson. She was discovered by Michael Jackson. Michael Jackson was so impressed by Nisha’s voice that he decided to record with her, something he had never done in the past with anyone. She also got a chance to perform on Michael Jackson's 45th birthday.

Nisha Kataria was born on the 9th of May 1986, in the city of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. However, shortly there after, she moved to Phoenix, Arizona, along with her family, where she would live and discover her love of singing.

Nishas musical style can be described as a combination of pop, rock, and R&B. In some of her songs, there is an Eastern flare. Being born to Indian parents, Nisha was raised in two different cultures simultaneously, and loved the musical contributions of each.

During the interview with Jim Moret who was filling in for Larry King in the Larry King, Kataria was asked about her time spent at Neverland. She lived there a little over two months, and when asked about recording with Michael Jackson she revealed that they recorded a song together at Neverland. Michael Jackson wrote the mystery song, but it has never been released. Kataria's manager hopes to put the song on her new album in tribute to Michael Jackson.

About her experience with Michael Jackson, Nisha said,--
“I mean, I -- he -- I saw him in the ranch. He lived there when I lived there. And I actually -- the first time I actually really got to meet him was when -- the second time I sang for Michael. I sang, "Because You Loved Me" with my C.D. and Michael and his nephew Eli and Omar and Prince. They all came in and sat down. And Michael was telling them, OK, listen. You have to hear her sing.

This was before I moved in. So I remember they were looking at each other and smiling as I was singing. And he was always smiling. A friendly boy.”

When Moret asked Kataria if she ever witnessed Michael Jackson interacting with his children, Paris, Prince, and Blanket Jackson she replied,

“I did. You would think that these kids, you know, they -- they could have anything they ever wanted because Michael Jackson was their father. And there was one time when me and my mom and Michael and Prince were all in the movie theater. And there's a concession stand with all the candy and popcorn and ice cream you could ever ask for.

And one day we were all in the theater and my mom offered Prince a candy bar. And Michael told her politely, he said, oh, can't have anymore today. He already had some.

So you could tell that they were disciplined kids and they were really close to their father -- really polite, friendly kids.”

Great thoughts

"I have just three things to teach:
simplicity, patience, compassion.
These three are your greatest treasures.
Simple in actions and in thoughts,
you return to the source of being.
Patient with both friends and enemies,
you accord with the way things are.
Compassionate toward yourself,
you reconcile all beings in the world."

- Lao-Tzu

"Our earth is but a small star in a great universe. Yet of it we can make, if we choose, a planet unvexxed by war, untroubled by hunger or fear, undivided by senseless distinctions of race, color or theory."

E. Sreedharan: India’s Pride

E. Sreedharan is a man known for honesty, integrity, fearlessness, getting things done fast. E. Sreedharan is now known for honesty and hard work all over India. I think he drew more media attention after he completed the first phase of Delhi metro, without any delay. He became known for his discipline during the construction of Delhi metro. He was very strict with contractors. He would not allow anything that would damage the quality of construction. Because of efficiency in completing Delhi metro project he is called metro man by the media.

Sreedharan should be given credit to the timely completion of Delhi metro projects. It should be seen that India’s first metro project, the Kolkata project was delayed over decades and its budget went over the limit, due to lack of professionalism, political meddling, and red tappism. This was avoided, in Delhi metro, because DMRC was given full control of the project. The government should be thanked for this approach. You can see that DMRC is the most efficient government body in India, which the Delhi people are very proud of. It is seen that people are accepting the DMRC’s professional approach. I pray to god, same thing is kept even after Sreedharan has retired from DMRC.

Dr. Elattuvalapil Sreedharan was born on 11 July 1932 in Palakkad district of Kerala. After completing graduation from Government Engineering College, Kakinada he joined as a lecturer in Civil Engineering in Government Polytechnic West hill, Kozhikode. Then he went to Bombay port trust as an apprentice. Later he joined Indian Railway as Probationary Assistant Engineer in December 1954.

His first major achievement was the timely completion of parts of Pamban Bridge that connected Rameshwaram to main land Tamilnadu, that was washed away by a tidal wave. He completed this in 46 days, while target given to him was 3 months by his boss. Railway minister's Award was given to him in recognition of this achievement.

He was involved in the construction of Kolkata metro rail. His another major project was the konkan railway. This was a project with great hurdles in front of it. But Sreedharan was successful in completing it in time. It was the first major project in India to be undertaken on a BOT (Build-Operate-Transfer) basis; the organisation structure was different from that of a typical Indian Railway set-up; the project had 93 tunnels along a length of 82 km and involved tunneling through soft soil. The total project covered 760 km and had over 150 bridges. If it was not done under the supervision of Sreedharan then I bet it would have been delayed for years.

Well I think it is very difficult for a man like Sreedharan to work in an environment like corruption, nepotism, unjust political interference, with such efficiency. Sreedharan has told in an interview that he faced immense pressures from politicians, to do things like- awarding contracts to persons of their choice, giving promotions to persons of their choice, avoiding certain areas from the project area. But, he was a bold person, and he never succumbed to their pressures. The politicians now know that E. Sreedharan cannot be manouevered easily as they think.

His honesty and hard work has brought him many awards and invitation to many major projects around the world. He was invited to Pakistan for the development of Lahore metro project. He was also invited by UAE government for the Dubai metro project. But he had to deny these proposals because of commitment with DMRC. I think he is great patriot for doing this.

The recent accidents at the construction site of DMRC has caused a black mark on his big carrier. But his achievements are more than those small bad marks .

I think we need more people like Sreedharan in India. Then only we can stride forward to become a strong country.
